Daigin Shokudo Northern Higashiyama

Daigin Shokudo is a great shokudo near Ginkaku-ji Temple. It serves the standard noodle and rice favorites. It’s a good choice for a meal when exploring Northern Higashiyama.

If you’re looking for a solid meal at a reasonable price when exploring the northern end of the Path of Philosophy or Ginkaku-ji Temple, look no further than Daigin Shokudo. It’s a standard Japanese shokudo where you can get filling teishoku (set meals) of the usual Japanese fish and meat favorites, as well as noodle and rice dishes. There’s enough fish to keep pescatarians happy and there are even some vegetable dishes for vegetarians. A filling meal here will cost around ¥900 to ¥1100.

They’re open for lunch and dinner. They don’t speak much English, but they’re used to foreign diners and there’s a full English menu. There is no English sign — look for the orange and black sign and the food models in the window.
