Jeugiya is a magical traditional Japanese home in one of the most atmospheric neighborhoods in Kyoto. With warm service and all the amenities you need, it’s a brilliant place to stay in Kyoto.

Jeugiya At A Glance
- Great for: couples, families with older children
- Strong points: Gion location, traditional style
- Sample rates: from US$500 to $600 per night
[Jeugiya garden]
The Jeugiya machiya is located in the Shimbashi/Shirakawa area of Gion, which is Kyoto’s most beautiful preserved neighborhoods. This means the house is within easy walking distance of both downtown and the sights of southern Higashiyama, so the location is pretty much perfect. And, because it’s off the main street, it’s also quiet.
[Jeugiya exterior]
The house itself is built in immaculate Japanese style, but some allowances have been made for Western visitors, like raised beds, Western-toilets and a dining room with a table and chairs.
[Jeugiya bedroom]
One of the highlights of Jeugiya is the fine garden which you can gaze over from the living area. Amazingly, the rates here are about half of those charged by similar machiya in Kyoto. Needless to say, Jeugiya is always in high demand, so you’ll have to reserve early. Children over the age of 12 are allowed at this property.
