Is there a food group you can’t find in the Nishinakajima-minamigata Station area? Venturing one stop south of Shin-Osaka Station on the Midosuji subway line brings you to an area full of delicious little restaurants - from ramen to izakaya, there’s something for everyone here. Sobayoshi is the place to head to if you have a buckwheat noodle craving.

The menu is rather varied for a soba shop. There’s the usual offerings like duck and leek soba, cold dipping soba, tempura soba, and tentoji donburi (egg and tempura rice bowl). But there are more unusual offerings like mountain vegetable soba and rice sets, or whitefish soba and congee, as well as side dishes like omelette, salads, and sesame tofu.

We’ll be frank: it’s not the absolute best soba in town, but it’s pretty good for what it is, and more importantly, it’s great value for money - especially at lunchtime.

While it’s a non-smoking establishment between 11am and 1:30pm, customers are allowed to smoke after that. If you’re particularly sensitive to cigarette smoke but still want soba, go for an early lunch.
