Chirori

Chirori is a local, contemporary izakaya serving up fabulous little dishes, with an incredible variety of sake to pair with each one. Located one stop south of Shin-Osaka Station, it’s great for dinner with friends.

The Nishinakajima-minamigata Station area near Shin-Osaka definitely has no shortage of great little restaurants. If you’re looking for something with more variety on the menu, try Chirori - a contemporary izakaya located a short walk west of the station. You’ll want to look for a sign resembling an objet d’art, with the name written in hiragana (ちろり).

Like most izakaya, the menu changes often depending on the season and what’s available. You might have lotus root tempura, sandwiching a filling of minced meat; a rice bowl with baby sardines and a rich yolk on top; fresh, boiled, lightly salted fava beans; an assortment of the freshest fish in season.

The menu is entirely in Japanese calligraphy and isn’t the easiest to decipher. So, if you’re nervous about ordering, you might want to go with a Japanese speaker. Alternatively, you’ll probably have a lot of fun ordering based on everyone else’s dishes around you - and make some new friends into the bargain.
