Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

A large classic hotel with European touches and a lovely Japanese garden, the Chinzanso is an interesting choice for those who don’t mind staying away from the action.

Hotel Chinzanso
Tokyo

The Chinzanso is a bit of an anachronism. It combines Belle Epoque European design with some interesting Japanese touches in a large Western-style building. It’s located in Bunkyu-ku, a few kms northeast of Shinjuku. Unless you have business in the area, you’ll probably find the location rather inconvenient, necessitating a taxi or long walk to get to the nearest train or subway station.

While the hotel is a bit dated, the rooms are large and restful. If you’re a fan of classical European-style hotels, you might like this place. Given that the rates are at the low end of the Expensive range, it’s actually a very good value — just be sure that you’re okay with the location before making up your mind.
