Shibuya Loft

Loft is by far the best place in Shibuya to buy gifts, either for friends or for yourself. It sells everything you never knew you wanted or needed.

Loft is an extremely hazardous place for shoppers. Consisting of 7 floors filled with things you never knew you wanted or needed, the danger is that you may walk away with a significantly lighter wallet.

The second floor of Loft, for instance, is chock-a-block with an incredible range of beauty, health and fitness-related items. Think dozens of different brands of face masks, moisturizers (with testers), face peeling gels, nifty neck massagers, toe separators, vibrating machines that work your abdominal muscles, and suspiciously phallic-looking massagers for your facial muscles. The sheer specificity of the products here is astounding.

On the fourth floor, you’ll encounter a gorgeous range of patterned umbrellas and raincoats. Forget the cheap plastic umbrellas at convenience stores and buy something that lasts. The third floor is home to all manner of kitchen utensils and accessories, many of which are made in Japan - bowls, chopsticks, and bento boxes make great wedding gifts.

The basement floor has an awesome range of stationery, with enough pens and washi tape to make scrapbookers and crafters fall to their knees and cry with joy. And of course, the first floor of Loft, with its extensive selection of Japanese craft goods, may be the best place in Shibuya hands down for souvenir shopping.

You could conceivably complete your souvenir shopping in a single trip here. Or, you might end up with a new suitcase for all the extra acquisitions from Loft. It’s all up to you.
