Kiddyland

Welcome to Kiddyland, Tokyo’s tax-free toy and character goods mecca in Omotesando. With character goods ranging from Hello Kitty to Star Wars, it’s consumer heaven for adults and children alike.

Kiddyland[Kiddyland - image © Florentyna Leow] Omotesando-dori might be well-known for hosting flagship stores from the world’s luxury brands, but nestled in between all of them is Kiddyland - a four-floor building stocked top to bottom with all manner of branded toys and merchandise.

Whether it’s Studio Ghibli, Hello Kitty, Gudetama or Rilakkuma, this store has you covered with all the major Japanese characters and cartoon-themed goods you could ever want.

Of course, it’s not all Japanese brand merchandise. There’s a great deal of merchandise from familiar American brands like Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel, running the gamut from socks to steering wheel covers to umbrellas. Pretty much all major fandoms are covered, so your only problem here is setting a budget and sticking to it.

One wonders if Kiddyland is perhaps slightly misnamed, given that most people in there are not actually children. Still, Kiddyland doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is - a four-floor merchandise mecca with a price tag on every item. If you’re not into the explosively bright, kawaii aesthetic or character goods, give Kiddyland a miss.
