Claska Tokyo

October 2022: Please note Claska has now permanently closed. Please see our Ebisu page for other places to stay in the district.

Located in ulta-hip Meguro, the Claska is one of Tokyo’ only truly boutique hotels. The service is excellent and the design is super cool.

Claska
Tokyo

In a city of cookie-cutter hotels, the Claska really stands out. First, it’s in western Meguro, which is one of Tokyo’s hippest residential districts. The hotel is surrounded by interesting restaurants, shops and cafes. The only problem is that it’s about a half an hour walk to Meguro Station, so you will probably find that you need to cab it to/from the station to start your day’s explorations. But, if you want to get a feeling for what it would be like to live in one of Tokyo’s most sought-after neighborhoods, this is the place.

The hotel is suffused with great design sense, with rooms that tend toward nouveau Japonaise and others that are more contemporary European. There’s a great café/restaurant in the lobby and you can climb to the roof for great views over Tokyo.

The service is attentive and personal. Everyone tries really hard to please and can help with great local tips and picks.

Needless to say, all of this comes at a price, and the rates here are on par with the top luxury hotel brands in the city. But, for an intimate, design-conscious hotel, you can’t beat the Claska.
