If you want to be centrally located, the Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi is a pretty good choice. It’s right near Shinsaibashi Station, which means all the shops are right on your doorstep. Amerika-mura is close by, while Dotonbori is a mere 7-minute walk away. Namba is just one train ride away, too.

The rooms may not be luxurious but they’re clean, comfortable, and come with lots of great amenities. Room fridges are stocked with complimentary juice, tea, and coffee. There are massage chairs in the lobby. The staff are friendly and helpful. Best of all, the whole hotel is entirely non-smoking.

Breakfast is buffet-style and comes with a very decent selection of fruit, salads, breads, and other hot dishes. It’s good value for money and we’d recommend adding it to your room if you don’t want to venture out into the city!

Like an increasing number of hotels in Japan these days, the Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi also provides smartphones for guests to use during their stay. These “handy phones” are provided free of charge, and allow you to make free domestic calls, browse the internet and find your way around town. They’ll bill you if you lose the phone, but it’s an otherwise useful and convenient service.

We love that the Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi goes the extra mile for guests with fun little services and amenities. For example, they provide free ramen between 9:30pm and 10:30pm, along with free drinks! (The party’s over when they run out of soup.) Late afternoons see Japanese cultural events ranging from okonomiyaki cooking workshops to fan-painting classes. A free portable WiFi is available on request from the front desk, and bicycles are free to rent, too.

A minor downside to the Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi is that it primarily serves tour groups. It’s not that tour groups are necessarily bad; but it can get a little chaotic at breakfast and in the lobby when everyone’s congregating there all at once. Still, the friendly staff and fabulous extra services more than make up for this!
