Travelling with children can be challenging and taxing at times, and not all museums or institutions have facilities geared towards parents with young children. Kids Plaza Osaka is a gem of a museum for kids and adults alike - the exhibits and activities strike that perfect balance of fun and learning in a safe space.

There’s no shortage of interesting activities at this museum - kids could spend a whole day here. The science section has puzzles to solve, while the cultural section has kid-sized instruments and models to fiddle around with. A TV studio allows kids to try their hand at playing with cameras or presenting in front of one. The highlight, though, is probably the Kids Town Playground on the 4th floor - a brightly-coloured, wacky, mind-bending collection of walls, slides, and bridges designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

A real plus point here is how child-friendly their facilities are. The museum has nursing rooms, ample diaper-changing spaces, rest areas for kids and adults, and lockers to stash all your extra gear. The nursing room has a water heater and sink so you can heat up some milk. There are even baby strollers you can borrow free of charge - a lifesaver for parents!

A bonus if the weather is good: if the kids have had enough of indoor play at the plaza, there is a fantastic playground at Ogimachi Park just behind Kids Plaza Osaka. This delightfully spacious playground has a climbing wall, a sandpit, and a number of slides guaranteed to keep any kid entertained for a good chunk of time. Even adults will be tempted to get in on the fun.
