Hotel Mystays Premier Dojima

Located 10 minutes on foot from JR Osaka Station, Hotel MyStays Premier Dojima offers well-outfitted rooms that are larger than average for Japan. Being surrounded by a plethora of interesting restaurants is pretty great!

Hotel MyStays Premier
Dojima

Hotel MyStays Premier Dojima is decently located, though it’s not entirely convenient. It’s about a 7 to 10 minute walk from JR Osaka Station, and if you have a number of large suitcases, we strongly recommend taking a taxi straight to the hotel instead of schlepping luggage underground or across busy crossings. Once you’ve divested yourself of baggage, though, you’ll find that walking to public transport shouldn’t prove too onerous!

Rooms at MyStays Premier Dojima are unusually large for Japanese hotels. A double room, for instance, had plenty of space to walk around in and leave a suitcase open. The large desk was also a good place to work - a boon for business travellers to Osaka. We also liked that there were extra skincare amenities for women, and the room came with nightwear!

However, the rooms can be slightly stuffy during winter, so you might have to open your window a little to let some fresh air in. Depending on the room you’re assigned to, you might have a nice city view or not much of one at all.

The hotel itself isn’t really a place you’ll want to hang out. There’s not much of a lobby to speak of — the reception is on the second floor — and though it depends on who’s working at the counter, the staff are generally efficient but not effusive.

Breakfast here is average and nothing to really write home about. We suggest skipping the hotel breakfast and either picking something up from the convenience store downstairs, or checking out bakeries in the Umeda or Fukushima areas instead.

On the plus side, the hotel is right in the Kita-Shinchi district, which has a multitude of stylish, upscale bars and eateries. There are a couple of great restaurants right next to the hotel that see plenty of local Japanese patrons every night. We recommend checking some of them out for fun and delicious meals.

Overall, it’s not a bad choice if you don’t mind the slightly anonymous, impersonal feeling to the hotel. Depending on the time of the year, you might be able to snag rooms at better rates than average, too. However, you might want to consider another hotel if you need to be in much closer proximity to JR Osaka Station.
