Kitchen Street

True to its name, Tokyo Station’s Kitchen Street is entirely about eating. This is just one of the areas in the station dedicated to restaurants. You’ll never go hungry while waiting for your train.

Indecisive folks may have trouble at Kitchen Street. There are so many restaurants that choosing one will probably be quite difficult. You have your pick of all kinds of food - beef tongue, deep-fried skewers, oden, tempura, and more.

There are also quite a few restaurants here featuring Japanese regional food, such as Yonezawa beef specialist Ohki, Hokuriku food specialist Hakobune, and Okinawan restaurant Ryutan. If you’re not visiting any of these areas during your travels in Japan, you can at least try their food in Tokyo Station.

To accommodate the huge numbers of tourists who pass through Tokyo Station daily, English-language floor maps are available as pamphlets as well as on the walls around Kitchen Street. There’s also free WiFi available at all restaurants - just ask the staff for the SSID and password.

The easiest way to find something to eat is to just wander around until you find something tasty-looking - but if you’re searching for a particular shop, the fastest way there might be to just ask a member of staff.
