Yabaton Tokyo Ginzaten

There’s no need to visit Nagoya for miso katsu. Yabaton serves up this Aichi prefecture specialty of rich miso sauce-drenched fried pork cutlet at their Ginza outpost.

It’s hard to dislike tonkatsu. Who can argue with juicy pork cutlets that’ve been battered and deep-fried till golden and crisp? An interesting regional take on this dish can be found in Aichi prefecture, where they slather a rich miso-based sauce onto the cutlet.

Thankfully, you don’t have to get on the bullet train. Just hop on the subway to Ginza, where you’ll find an outpost of Nagoya tonkatsu chain Yabaton.

Their classic Teppan Tonkatsu is their most popular dish - that’s their famous miso katsu served on a sizzling iron plate. There’s a little dramatic flair involved here when serving. They’ll pour their signature miso sauce onto the cutlet once it’s in front of you, creating a little cloud of miso and pork-scented steam.

If you’re feeling fancy, upgrade your pork to a juicier, ultra-flavorful Kagoshima breed. But if pork isn’t your thing and you’re just with a friend for the ride, there’s also deep-fried seafood and vegetables on the menu.
