Womb

With its consistent stream of headlining electronic music acts, WOMB in Shibuya is a must-visit for clubbers in Tokyo.

Having opened in 2000, WOMB remains at the top of Tokyo’s club scene. Focusing primarily on house, drum n’ bass, and techno music, WOMB’s DJ schedule sees a fabulous mix of top international and local acts. Famous names like Skrillex have spun music magic here. WOMB has also propelled many domestic artists to global fame, so there’s a chance of catching a small-time DJ before they get their big break.

Each of WOMB’s 4 floors has a different decor and theme, with the main hall being the most visually impressive. This is the hall that houses the giant mirror ball, said to be Asia’s largest. That’s honestly difficult to verify, but we’re sure you’ll agree it’s cool.

Usefully, there are lockers where you can stash your stuff and party without hanging on to your bags. Partygoers may or may not want to avoid the basement: you can’t bring drinks here, and as the night wears on, there’ll be an increasing number of people lying on the couch. Non-smokers should also know that there’ll most likely be plenty of cigarette smoke around. Coupled with the rather poor ventilation and the fog machine in the main room, it can be an uncomfortable clubbing experience for your lungs.
