Oriental Bazaar

The Oriental Bazaar on Omotesando-dori Avenue might be unfortunately named, but it’s a good place for the average person to pick up some affordable Japanese souvenirs - and find some cute yukata to boot.

With a name like Oriental Bazaar and a kitschy exterior, one might be tempted to steer clear of this souvenir shop. But despite its obvious touristy nature, for all intents and purposes it’s an entirely decent place to pick up some trinkets and gifts for your loved ones at home.

Location-wise, one could hardly ask for more - it’s right on Omotesando-dori Avenue. There are three floors to wander around, and they cater to a wide range of budgets and tastes.

It’s hard to overstate the sheer convenience of doing some tax-free shopping here. This is where you can pick up things like plates, teapots, chopsticks, chopstick rests, coasters, origami paper, noren curtains (for hanging over your doors), tote bags, and incense. You can head to the basement to pick up some summer kimono (yukata) and bring a few home for your nieces and nephews; or head upstairs to check out some vintage kimono and kimono jackets.

You won’t find anything completely unique or high-end at Oriental Bazaar, but think of it as a one-stop shop for all-purpose souvenir shopping. Don’t forget your passport for the tax rebate.
