Korean barbecue is usually a fun, hands-on affair. Grilling meat table-side and eating it while still hot and sizzling is one of the most satisfying dining experiences you can have. And, with the quality of beef available in Japan, it’s taken to new heights here. Literally, too, since Jojoen Ebisu Garden Palace is on the 38th floor of the Yebisu Garden Place Tower.

Jojoen has had 40 years to work on its offerings at their various nationwide locations, and the fact that they’re still around speaks volumes. You could order a la carte from the extensive menu (ox tongue and 6 different types of kimchi, anyone?), but any one of the set menus will give you the most bang for your buck. Just make sure you go hungry, since it’s a lot of food. There’s various cuts of marinated wagyu beef, vegetables, rice, and even complimentary ice cream to finish.

If you can, time your visit to just before it gets dark and grab a seat by the window. You might be lucky enough to see the city lights turn on. Perfect for a romantic dinner with a special someone.
