Art galleries abound in Ginza, but the Ginza Graphic Gallery is the only one in the neighbourhood specializing entirely in graphic design. Worth a visit for design geeks.

It’s less common for graphic design to be given the same treatment as art in galleries, but that’s what you get at the Ginza Graphic Gallery. Otherwise known as the ggg (note the lowercase!), this gallery showcases contemporary design and graphics here, with an emphasis on poster art and advertising.
One of Japan’s largest printing companies, Dai Nippon Printing, runs this space. While Japanese designers make up the bulk of those exhibited, major international designers appear from time to time. The exhibitions change monthly, so there’s always something new to check out.
Besides the displayed works, the ggg also has a library for browsing, and a bookstore featuring plenty of excellent books on graphic design.
The best part about the ggg is that admission to this space is free, so it’s worth popping in quickly to check out the current exhibition. You might just discover a new artist to love.
