Resshi Shoyu Menkobo Sanku

Resshi Shoyu Menkobo Sanku in the Fukushima district is a ramen shop with an extreme mouthful of a name. Luckily, the sardine ramen is as impressive as its name is long.

You could spend 2 weeks in Osaka eating ramen at every single meal and still not quite scratch the surface of what the city’s noodle shops have to offer. If you’re keen on trying as many different ramen bowls as possible, you should put Resshi Shoyu Menkobo Sanku on your list of restaurants to try. They serve up a unique and delicious shoyu sardine ramen that’s worth queuing for - at least, the locals certainly think so!

The viscous, deep brown ramen broth is made with dried sardines, which can be notoriously fishy, but not at this place. Despite the intense flavours, most people are surprised to find that it doesn’t smell fishy at all. The chashu here is interlaced with just the right amount of fat and falls apart under your teeth. All of this pairs beautifully with the skinny, toothsome noodles.

While there are usually queues here even on weekdays, turnover is typically quick at a ramen shop. Come early if you’re keen on beating the lunch crowds. It’s a little further out from the nearest station but entirely worth the walk - you’ll build up more of an appetite that way, too.
