Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi

Located down a quiet side street in Minami, the unassuming Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi is near enough all the action and bright lights of Dotonbori, but low-key enough to make your stay pleasant and relaxing.

Shinsaibashi

Need a hotel that’s near all the action, but still fairly quiet and low-key so that you can relax? Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi might just be the place for you. Located an 8-minute walk from Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT) and a 12-minute walk from Namba Station, it’s quiet and well-insulated from the hustle and bustle of Dotonbori and the Namba area, but near enough that you can jump right back should you feel like it.

Rooms here are modern, functional, and brightly lit. They’re reasonably-sized by Japanese standards. All of them have ensuite facilities, and include most of the amenities you expect at hotels of this caliber. Rates here are generally reasonable for the central location.

Shinsaibashi

There are some quirky little touches in this hotel, like white stag statues in some of the rooms. We also appreciated the always-available coffee and soft drinks in the brightly (and slightly bizarrely) decorated lobby. The staff are also very warm and friendly!

Like an increasing number of hotels in Japan these days, Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi also provides smartphones for guests to use during their stay. These “handy phones” are provided free of charge, and allow you to make free domestic calls, browse the internet and find your way around town. They’ll bill you if you lose the phone, but it’s an otherwise useful and convenient service.

It’s not a luxury hotel by any means, but if you just need a low-key and fairly convenient place to sleep in downtown, Hotel 88 Shinsaibashi is a good choice.
