Musshu Mizuki

Musshu Mizuki in Ginza is a lovely pub in Ginza specializing in craft sake. It does indeed live up to its name, which translates to “sake dream.”

If you’re looking for an izakaya that cares about the food and the sake, Musshu Mizuki in Ginza is a great place to have on your eating list. Tucked away in the basement of a slightly tired-looking building (that has a vampire cafe on the 7th floor), it’s a great place to bring friends to.

The menu here is highly seasonal, with standard izakaya offerings cozying up to more unusual and creative dishes. On any given night, you might have choices like miso-cured sea urchin, grilled heirloom meats, and a blowfish tasting course on the menu.

Naturally, the staff at Musshu Mizuki will be able to recommend the perfect sake pairings from their 40 bottle-strong selection, some of which have been brewed especially for the restaurant. But if sake isn’t your thing, there are other beverages like shochu, Okinawan awamori, and tea available too.
