Kushiro is an izakaya in KITTE serving Hokkaido cuisine. Here, it’s mostly charcoal-grilled fare, as well as some sushi. Naturally, it’s heavy on the seafood. Think salt-grilled giant prawns, jewel-like assorted sashimi, grilled salmon belly, and juicy oysters, mainly sourced from the area around east Hokkaido. There’s also meat and vegetables for those who aren’t too fond of fish.

While Kushiro doesn’t serve ultra-refined sushi - don’t expect omakase sushi sets - it’s made with fresh fish and reasonably delicious rice, and it’ll satisfy most travelers coming from across the ocean. Pair with one of the dozen local Hokkaido sakes on the menu.

If you can’t make it here for dinner, Kushiro is also open for lunch from 11am to 3pm, with sets starting at JPY1380.
