It’s hard to beat staying in the Shinjuku area if you want shopping and entertainment options galore at your doorstep. Kadoya Hotel is a short 4-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, and makes a fine choice for travellers looking for a decent mid-range hotel in the area.

Rooms at Kadoya Hotel are clean and comfortable, and importantly, spacious by Japanese standards - let’s just say it won’t feel like a shoebox. Make sure you specify whether you want a non-smoking room at the time of booking. This hotel also has triple and quadruple-share options, so it’s good if you’re travelling with kids or with friends wanting to stay in the same room.

Rooms are equipped with the usual amenities and toiletries, and the shower has excellent water pressure. Beds are on the firm side, which is great for a good night’s sleep. We like that there are extra pillows available in the lobby. Plus you can choose them according to your preferred pillow texture - firm, soft, or fluffy.

Kadoya has a coin-operated laundry inside the hotel, with both washers and dryers. The dryers aren’t especially strong, but if you’re not pressed for time, just hang your clothes in the room to dry.

The best thing about staying in a hotel like Kadoya is being surrounded by 24-hour eating options. Not only does Shinjuku have many late-night bars and restaurants, there’s a Lawson’s convenience store right next door and a 7-11 a minute’s walk away. If you have an instant ramen craving at midnight, you know where to go.
