Jomon Roppongi

The slightly upscale Jomon Roppongi is a firm favorite with locals, and it’s easy to see why. Everyone’s sure to love their delicious, unpretentious Hakata-style grilled skewers.

Roppongi’s reputation for skeezy
clubs and ritzy shopping is
well-founded. But in between these extremes are some down-to-earth,
accessible pockets of sanity catering to the rest of us. A favorite with
locals and out-of-towners alike in Roppongi is Jomon, an izakaya
specializing in Hakata-style grilled skewers.

Grilled skewers are hard to argue with. Even when they’re mediocre, they’re pretty good when you’re drinking. At Jomon, they’re well above average. Take your pick from various parts of the pig and wash it all down with beer.
If you see chilled corn chawanmushi (egg custard) on the menu, don’t think twice and order it. You won’t regret it.
If you’re planning on visiting at normal dinner times - say around 7pm - you’ll definitely need to make a reservation, especially if you’re with a group of friends. However, Roppongi has a large expat population, so it’s no surprise that the staff here generally speak fluent English. Give them a ring and have a great meal.
