Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Tokyo

The Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba is a solid Western-style hotel with all the facilities of an international hotel and rates lower than similar hotels in Tokyo.

Grand Nikko Tokyo
Daiba

Located near Daiba Station on the artificial island of Obaiba, which is in Tokyo Bay, this hotel is a reliable and decent place to stay. The rooms are large, and there are several restaurants, as well as a pool and a gym. Note, however, that the pool is only open during summer and you have to pay extra to use the pool and gym (when will Japanese hotel operators learn that this is a self-defeating policy?!).

The rooms here are larger than most hotels in Japan in this price class. The views of Tokyo Bay, Tokyo or Odaiba are very good.

The problem here is the location: In order to explore Tokyo, you’re going to have to take the Yurikamome monorail into the city. The station is close to the hotel and there are frequent departures, but it’s still a pain. And getting all the way down here from Narita after you arrive is time consuming (however, it’s pretty easy to get here from Haneda).

That said, there are some decent restaurants and some good shops in the malls on Odaiba, including some within easy walking distance.

Thus, this hotel offers you a trade: If you can stand the inconvenience of staying down on Odaiba, you will be rewarded by rates that are significantly lower than those at comparable hotels in central Tokyo.
