Daimaru Department Store

With 13 floors of shopping and a fabulous food hall, Daimaru in Tokyo Station is one of the largest department stores in central Tokyo. You could spend a whole day here and never leave!

The usual luxury brands like Hermes and Louis Vuitton are here, but there’s plenty of reasonably-priced fashion to browse on the upper floors. If you’re looking for souvenirs or quality craft products, you’ll also find them on the upper floors.

The highlight at Daimaru is, of course, its magnificent basement food hall. Being attached to Tokyo Station likely plays a significant part in the staggering variety and quality of bento boxes available here, even when compared to other similar department stores - all the hungry inter-city commuters and regional travelers need feeding!

Spend some time wandering around Daimaru and sampling the food. Don’t forget to stop by the Kit Kat Chocolatory to pick up some butter Kit Kats.

If you don’t have an aversion to queuing or have time to kill, you might find the N.Y.C. Caramel Sand worth waiting for - two butter cookies sandwiched by a divinely gooey chocolate and caramel filling. Get several boxes to go.
