Japan is one of the best places in the world for stationery lovers - at least, anyone visiting G.Itoya in Ginza might end up believing that. This narrow building stocks an incredible range of premium stationery products from Japan and beyond. There are Rhodia and Leuchtturm1917 notebooks, lacquer fountain pens inlaid with gold, masking tapes, all shades and textures of paper, letter items, greeting cards, and more.

Each floor has a different theme. The second floor, for instance, is stocked entirely with letter-writing paraphernalia, including envelopes so gorgeous one is loath to sully them with less-than-perfect handwriting. The 7th floor features a long wall covered in diamonds of paper in every shade and texture imaginable - perfect for paper nerds. Or your next Instagram post.

Interestingly enough, G.Itoya has their own indoor farm on the 11th floor growing lettuce and arugula, which they use in the salads served on the 12th floor cafe.

One downside to G.Itoya is that most of the products here are targeted at boutique shoppers. For instance, the average person who just needs a cheap ballpoint pen is largely out of luck here. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re better off checking out the nearest bookstore.
